A downloadable game for Windows, Linux, and Android

Snowstorm is a mobile/PC infinite runner game, where the world is divided into three lanes, and the player must leap between lanes to avoid smashing into obstacles in other lanes.

It was intended to be a simple, straightforward, releaseable product that I could feel good about. It was developed primarily between jan-april 2016, in 30-minute segments while I used my laptop on the bus to/from work. I eventually grew dissatisfied with how simple it was, and shelved it for nearly three years.

Initially I had intended to have modes with more than three lanes, multiple biomes (a city, forest, and desert) a lot more weather effects to really sell the "snow" aspect, and an asynchronous multiplayer system (wherein two players play the same generated map separately, and whomever does better wins).  But since then, I've revised my goals downward and decided to release it as-is without putting much more work into it.

There are always more features to be added and things to be polished (or, frankly, done well in the first place), but sometimes you just have to say "it's done", and not worry too much about what you're left with.

Install instructions

Download and extract the compressed file appropriate for your system, the executable will be inside the "snowstorm" directory.

If playing on a PC, it's recommended to play windowed - the default setting is 1024x768 windowed, and that will probably give the best experience.
